Wellbeing Support
Who Are We?
The Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) is committed to supporting our people to be mentally and physically fit, ready and capable to deliver high quality policing and emergency services for our community.
Wellbeing Support delivers confidential, proactive and preventative mental health and wellbeing services to DPFEM and Ambulance Tasmania that comprise of preventative, intervention and promotion elements across a mix of in-house and externally provided services. It blends the expertise available to create a holistic approach to each individual that seeks support.
The director of Wellbeing Support is Matthew Richman.
Group Training / Education Sessions
Wellbeing Support/CISM offer group training and education sessions in addition to individual support. If you would like to request any of the following group sessions, email: wellbeing.programs@dpfem.tas.gov.au
- Mental Health First Aid training
- The Wellbeing Support & CISM Induction/Briefing
- People Focused Leadership – Supporting the Management of Wellbeing
- Other mental health/self-care workshops (tailored specifically for work groups/requests)
- Brigade/station/unit visits
Individual Support
Wellbeing Support is available to all members and their immediate families. The Wellbeing Support Officers are a point of contact for short term assistance and can be a facilitator, conduit or just a friendly ear to help you work through the ups and downs of life. There are 9 permanent Wellbeing Support Officers and 28 Wellbeing Support Peers who can speak with you with a high degree of confidentiality. Wellbeing Support Officers are not advocates or counsellors and are not a substitute for any professional expertise, but they can hook you up with them.
